Preparing for Your Contour TRL Treatment

We’ll provide you with detailed instructions prior to your appointment, in consultation. Each of these guidelines aims to smooth your recovery and create an environment during your downtime that’s conducive to optimal healing and results.

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for two weeks prior to your appointment (ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, etc)
  • Discontinue retinol and other vitamin-A derivatives 7 days prior to your appointment
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol for two weeks before and after treatment
  • Please plan accordingly as recovery, including sunburn-like effects, can take up to 14 days to resolve

What should I expect on the day of my procedure?

We’ll take your “before” photos and get you started with local anesthetic. We’ll then use the device over the desired areas, providing a cool pack to cool the area simultaneously.

What should I expect upon completion of the Contour TRL treatments?

Pinpoint bleeding that’s mild to moderate is desired as it shows the treatment is functioning correctly. This may persist for 24 to 72 hours afterward. You may also experience redness and swelling, but these should subside within two weeks.

How do I take care of my skin following treatment?

We’ll provide you with instructions in-office, but you may want to use a cold pack. It’s also recommended to sleep with your neck elevated and on your back. You may also take a pain reliever or antihistamine if you experience itching or pain. Do not rub the area or exfoliate and avoid harsh surfactants like shampoo to the face. Only use gentler cleansers and follow with a barrier protective occlusive agent like Aquaphor. You will need this for around 10 days post-procedure. It’s best to not let the treated areas dry out! You’ll also need to avoid sun exposure and diligently use SPF, as well as avoid intense exercise and sweating for the two weeks following. It’s best to avoid makeup, as well.

How long does recovery take?

Most patients are fine to return to work at any time during the two weeks after treatment. Not all patients heal at the same speed, and recovery is more like a sunburn so patients can gauge their own comfort levels.

When should I expect my results?

You will begin seeing noticeable improvements in the days following your treatment. Your skin will continue to improve in its firmness and laxity in the next four to six months as more collagen proteins are generated.
